I can't say here about chidananda maharaj more as there are numerous events of thakur and math is related to him...to know the greatness of chidanandaji i here use a comment made by thakur himself that ,"AMAR SADHAN BRIKKHER SHRESTHA FOL KUMAR CHIDANANDA" in english "kumar chidananda is the best fruit of my sadhan-tree"
-----------------------------------------------------
Thakra has said and written in his little note book that Chidanand Maharaj or Chandi Chaitanya was Swami Purnananda in his previous birth who was the main disciple of Brahmananda Giri (thakura's previous birth). Swami Chidananda has edited Arya Darpan and written some books. Mayer Kripa is my favorite. As swami Purnananda in 16th or 17th century, he was a siddha tantrik and written many books. One of his book Sadd-chakra Nirupana (in Sanskrit) was later translated by John Woodruf.
------------------------------------------------------
swami purnananda giri wrote another book on tantra shastra by the order of mahamaya...the name of the book is "SHYAMA RAHASYA"...fortunately i found the book and bought it...its a significant tantrik book for sadhakas.
-----------------------------------------------------
he was also the 1st adkhya of paschim bangla saraswat ashram, kharkusma established by thakura himself....and also the 2nd mohanta after swami pragyananda saraswati.
------------------------------------------------------
I have heard about the book Shyama Rahasya - is it available? I have the english translation of Sadchakra nirupana - great description of six-chakras. Sir Woodruf's translation is also very authentic.
-------------------------------------------------------
About Thakura's note book: Sura maa or Narayani maa found it from Nilachal Kutir. There was an article written by Narayani maa published in a oriya book named Leela Prasanga where she says that Thakura wrote about the previous life of a few of his disciples. The note was written in english, a clear deparature from his preference of writting in Bengali. It said something like NKChaterjee - Brahmananda Giri then Chandi - Purnananda then Praful Bhanjdeo - kedar etc. DOn't have the book infront of me.
