His father Gunanidhi Mohanty was a Jamindar
and
mother Sundarmani Mohanty was a house wife.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shri Durga Charan Mohanty was born in 1912 at Biratunga, a remote village near Konark,Orissa. His father Shri Gunanidhi Mohanty and mother Smt. Sundarmani Mohanty. From Child hood he came under influence of Shree Shree Thakur (Swami Nigamananda) and longed to see Him. In the very first meeting he was so much impressed and deeply moved that the relationship lasted a life time, thus transforming him into the "Parichalaka Bhai" (Sole Administrator Brother-"Bhai") of Nilachala Saraswata Sangha, Puri. He wrote a lot of books on Shree Shree Thakur and translated Thakurji's writings from Bengali to Oriya language.
By his pioneering effort more than 100 ashrams opened at difference places of Orissa. He recognised Shree Shree Thakur as the means for, as well as the end of, all human quest. His entire preaching is based on the philosophy, for which only Shree Thakur came to this world and did all the austere sadhana.
He had written "I longed to see Him(shree shree thakur) at Puri after reading His writing Yogi Guru. As a young boy I had the opportunity of having His let darshan at 5 P.M. Thursday on 20.03.1930. On first meeting it seemed as if Lord Shiva in Snow-white form is sitting motionless and smoking Tobacco (hooka). His Countenance is bright. As if bright light is being emitted from inside His human form. Divine consciousness has taken human shape. His body was emitting the smelt of lotus. In the first darshan I was so overwhelmed by his appearance and mood that I continued to look at Him winkless. His feet attracted me more. His sole were like full-bloomed red lotus. When looked up I saw His bright peaceful and serene face. His eyes full of compassion and red lips smiley. This was the meeting of a life time. In 1934 Shree Thakur instructed me to notedown His sayings. On 05.06.1934 I was initiated (given dikshya) by Shree Shree Thakur. On 24.08.1934, Friday (Shree Thakurji's Birthday) Nilachala Saraswata Sangha(NSS) was established by Shree Shree Thakur Himself". Bhai Durgacharan continued to spread the message of Shree Shree Thakur till today even after his worldly departure on 07.12.1985, 9 PM, at Biratunga.

"He remains the Parichalaka of Nilachala Saraswata Sangha, Puri" as he has not handed over this authority to anybody else and he had indicated while answering questions that 'We will continue to remain as is now'.

Year 1934 is very memorable year for us. This year we sought permission from Shree Shree Thakur to celebrate His birth day at Nilachala Kutir (Puri) on 24th August, 1934 (Shraban Purnima). On occasion of His birth day Shree Shree Thakur advised us to form a divine circle among us. As per His wishes some devotees started an association for religious talk and thus Nilanchala Saraswata Sanga-NSS came into existence by the gradual growth of the group discussion and prayer. The under lying principles of the Sangha were fulfill the triple objectives viz:
1) to lead and ideal family life
2) to establish more and more such association or Sangha and
3) to exchange each other's thought and idea's among the disciples.
Shree Shree Thakur's deliberation on the 'formation of an ideal house-hold life' gave us systematic idea pertaining to the way He should be worshipped. He taught us how His portrait should be placed on a royal chair giving utmost reverence generally paid to the Guru (spiritual master). He should be made the head of the family and ideal house-hold life should be regulated under His direction. While preaching it, Shree Shree Thakur was looking like an ideal house-holder such as Shree-Krishna and Guru Narayan, the Supreme Godhead.
